About Us

The Strathcona County Robotics Association is a nonprofit organization based in Sherwood Park, Alberta, committed to inspiring youth through STEM education and robotics. Since 2019, we've supported a growing number of student-led teams participating in FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge. Our teams design, build, and program robots to take on real-world challenges, all while developing skills in leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork.

More than just robotics, the SCRA community is built on mentorship, innovation, and a passion for learning. We believe in creating an inclusive space where students of all backgrounds can explore technology, take creative risks, and build meaningful connections. Together, we’re shaping the next generation of thinkers, makers, and leaders.

Why FIRST Robotics?

Discover why FIRST is more than just a competition—it's an opportunity to develop critical skills, make lasting connections, and have fun while building the future! Hear from Mark Rober, a passionate advocate for STEM education, as he shares his thoughts on how FIRST is changing the way students approach learning and innovation.

Interested in joining the SCRA?

For Students:
If you're passionate about robotics, programming, or problem-solving, there's a spot for you! Students can join one of our FLL or FTC teams, where they'll design, build, and program robots while developing leadership, presentation, and teamwork skills.
For Mentors:
Mentors play a crucial role in supporting our teams, and we welcome volunteers of all backgrounds! While experience in robotics or STEM is helpful, it's not required. Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and help foster a positive learning environment for our students. If you're interested in volunteering and making an impact, we'd love to have you on board!
